Where can you get kosher food in Milton Keynes?

Are you considering moving to the Milton Keynes area but think you’ll struggle to find the kosher food products you crave?

Think again…!

Although many Jewish people don’t keep strictly kosher, there’s nothing more comforting than a bit of chopped liver or Israeli hoummus to remind you of ‘home’. Many of us travel to London to stock up on kosher supplies, which is no great hardship as we’re less than an hour away, but it’s always good to know these products are also available locally, for those who can’t always get to London.

In this blog, we Jews of MKDRS pay homage to the marvellous food mecca that is commonly known as Sainsbury’s. Because Sainsbury’s in Central Milton Keynes is literally the BEST place around to buy kosher food! Whereas in our largest Tesco, in Kingston, the sad, tiny kosher section sits tucked away at the very back of the store and contains one or two, almost out-of-date items, if you’re lucky, with Sainsbury’s you have a fantastic choice.

Can you get kosher falafel in Sainsbury’s? YES!

What about hoummus, in different flavours? YES!

Gilberts Wurst, chopped liver, kabanos, chopped herring, fishballs and Yarden turkey sausages? ABSOLUTELY!

There’s literally everything you need to satisfy your Jewish food cravings.

Sainsbury’s also has a dry food section, containing delights such as Bissli, Bamba, gherkins, matzahs, kiddish wine, matzah meal, kneidl mix – you name it!

And in the frozen, kosher section, you can get even get schnitzels, kosher, frozen chicken portions and latkes. At Pesach, they also sell a decent selection of Kosher for Passover products, so you won’t even be caught out during this time.

So for anyone who’s considering moving to the area but is concerned they’ll miss out on all their favourite Jewish foods, fear not! We’ve got you covered…

If this isn’t enough to tempt you, Jewish foodie fans will be ecstatic to learn that we also have a huge branch of Costco, which also sells a selection of kosher products. You can get kosher smoked salmon, enormous packs of Gilbert fishballs and even salt beef there. There are far less queues too – unlike some branches of Costco, you can actually get a parking space and won’t have to queue for hours to get in.

But for now, we give thanks to Sainsbury’s, the definite winner in its class for providing us with such a wonderful, varied selection of kosher food.

For those of you who already live in the area, we encourage you to please try and visit Sainsbury’s to buy kosher food whenever you can, to ensure they continue to stock the products we all love!

This is truly a great selection of kosher foods. However it will only continue if the goods are bought. If no one buys them Sainsburys as a business will not be able to carry on stocking kosher so go to Sainsburys and buy , buy buy! Rembering of course that people outside our community will also buy kosher products
